The Auction Outline & Background
After a previous clearance auction an attendee made contact as he & his wife were retiring. For about 20 years they operated a winery just outside the Swan Valley. They were moving to a coastal area for a different lifestyle, but to also downsize & continue an additional business on the coast.
Our lead auctioneer personally spent several days onsite with the winemaker. They prepared the large wine production and cellar door sales area alongside a general storage and workshop shed . Both were “cluttered”. They also set up the farm & winery implements into an outdoor auction sale layout.
We uploaded a 350 or so lot detailed catalogue with images of most lots.
The auction was promoted in statewide & local print media adverts, plus an extensive EDM strategy involving general & targeted emails to potential buyers. Bidders came from far afield as well as locally.
The auction included numerous medium sized stainless steel fermentation & other tanks, refrigeration equipment and other appurtenances. Due to the bidding by winemakers & others we found that our estimates of tank values in particular were pretty accurate.
In addition there were various motorised & tow behind agricultural implements for sale & most lots found a new home.
The auction was well attended and those genuine bidders picked up new opportunities and assets at realistic prices.
